Corridors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters and there are 22 lifts providing vertical access between Decks 3 (for the medical center and disembarkation) and 18. Carnival, like the rest of the industry, has struggled with crewing issues since the end of the global pandemic. Qualified staff are in short supply, and it’s no secret that some of the crew on all ships throughout the industry are very green indeed.

With a maximum capacity of almost 4,000 passengers and over 1,000 feet in length, Carnival Horizon is a big ship, but its deck plans are well designed. We also love the outdoor bar at the Havana Club, which features a pool, two hot tubs, colorful deck chairs and Latin music.
Mona Liza made sure we had extra towels every day and was extremely friendly. I have to say the majority of the staff was very warm and welcoming. The dining room dress code says no gym shorts, no baseball caps, and no sleeveless tee shirts on men, all of which is present, even on formal nights. Our recent Emerald Princess cabin was a cacophony of neighbors’ TV noise, neighbors and stewards slamming doors, and yelling in the halls. While there was some hallway yelling on Venezia, it did not penetrate the stateroom as much, and the walls don’t shake when a neighboring door is closed.
